Fuel pump not priming, car will crank, and I hear pump priming faintly when I release the key and the motor does, also there is what looks like corrosion or an ash like substance under the fuses and most of the fuses look burnt on the contacts that go inside fuse box.

Also, is there a fuel pump shut off or reset switch?

Hi,

The idea that you hear the pump prime may not indicate it is working properly. Here is what we need to start with. We need to confirm the fuel pressure is present. Here is a link that explains how it is done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

I attached the fuel pressure specifications below.

Do this and let me know what you find. Also, if the fuse box appears to have corrosion, disconnect the negative battery terminal and get an electronics cleaner spray and do your best to clean the connectors.

Let me know what you find.

Hi,

Because there is a concern with the fuel pump sounding differently, I would recommend checking if it is working correctly. That is what the fuel pressure test will indicate.

Also, can you take a pic of the fuse box and what you are seeing that you described above?

Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

There is what appears to be a broken wire on the pump, or I can see the copper coming out of it.

Hi,

That is a concern. By chance, can you take a pic of it and upload it for me to, see? Also, let me know the wire color.

Hi,

That appears to be the issue. Some of these are repairable without replacing the connector. Others require a new plug to be wired in.

By chance, if you disconnect the connector, are there any small pins to release the pin that goes to that wire?

Let me know.

Hi,

Yes, but make sure you solder the wires and heat shrink them to prevent them from coming apart.

If you need help, let me know.
