Fuel pump won't run at first until I move the shift lever out of park and back into park. Would a new neutral safety switch solve the problem?

The fuel pump isn't tied into the neutral safety switch. If the switch was bad, the starter wouldn't engage. What happens if you simply try starting it without shifting? Does the starter engage?

I have to be honest, it doesn't sound related to the switch you indicated. Let me know exactly what happens if you don't move the shifter.

I'll watch for your reply. Take care.
