Fuel line will not disconnect

The fuel lines that go to my motor won’t disconnect. The quick connect tool that is the right size won’t push into the fitting. It’s the last thing I need to do to get the motor pulled. But I’ve tried everything and still no luck. I watched the video on how to do it and I tried it and it still wouldn’t go in! It is the fuel return line which is a size 5/8 and the tool won’t spread the spring. Any ideas?

Good afternoon,

Are you using the plastic or steel tool?

When you install the tool, you should rotate it while trying to release the spring.

I started with steel then moved to plastic because the steel tool bent.

The last resort is to soak it down with a spray that will dissolve the rust. If that does not work, you will need to cut the lines and replace them.

I have soaked it in in blaster but I can’t just cut the fuel lines as Ford no longer produces the lines and I have to try to salvage as much as possible due to the fact that I plan on having engine rebuilt

Where it is located? I can’t get a good grip but not from what I can tell it’s a nylon hose with a braided protective cover over the hose.

It’s part of the fuel lines to the truck and I’m not sure how to disconnect the hose from frame and work on it that way this is the only thing holding me back from pulling this engine.

Got it.

You could remove the fuel rail from the motor and set it aside. You will be removing it while you rebuild the motor.

No, you need to release the clamps holding or securing the lines down under the engine by the transmission. Then Release the fuel rail with the injectors and set them off to the side.

I would take the rail off the donor motor and install the rail from your motor with the lines connected to the donor motor.

My drum won’t go back over the brakes on my driver side and with circumference of the drum isn’t warped and the adjuster screw is all the way closed.

Check the e brake cable for being stuck in the applied position.
