Fuel gauge stopped working?

It shows it’s on full all the time until you turn the key off, then shows it’s on empty when you turn the key to off and remove key it’s not registering right correctly.

Check the wires on the fuel sending unit that is in the gas tank, over the years they can get loose or corroded. With the year it is also posible that the sending unit itself is going bad

Does the reading change when you move the tank switch from one tank to the other? If so, the switch could be bad, if you do not have dual tanks the sender has probably gone out as Mike has suggested. Here are the fuel gauge wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
