Fuel gauge stopped working properly?

2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE

Changed out faulty fuel pump and after a week my fuel gauge quit working properly. It either reads full or empty never in-between. Could the gauge be the issue, or could it be something else? Need to repair as it is very annoying not knowing if i am about to be empty or if i still have gas.

The fuel pump, strainer and fuel gauge sending unit is one piece. The fuel float might be getting hung up on something or going bad. My guess is that it is not making a good connection in the fuel tank.

Have not had a chance to drop the tank and pull it yet to check. But as soon as i do i will post an update.

Hi,

When you replaced the fuel pump, was it the entire unit including the level sensor? If it was an entire unit, the new rheostat may be bad.

When you get time, let us know. I totally understand not being able to find the time to do things. LOL Also, here is a link you may find it of interest:

Yeah, i replaced the whole unit. I'll check out the link thanks you guys for all the help. I have a couple days off coming up will try and get it looked at them.
