Reading at the fuel sending unit shows it works, self-test on the instrument cluster says gauge works, but no reading at gauge when connected to system. Which wires do I need to check and how do I do this
i know a lot about cars but not much about the electrical.

Sure, you need to ground the fuel sender wire to make sure the gauge and wiring is okay and that the fuel level sender has failed from inside the gas tank. The wire color is dark blue, and it is at the wiring harness near the fuel tank. If you ground this wire with the key on and it goes to full the fuel level sensor is bad, here is how to change it out in case you need it. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Everything checked out okay so far. I am hoping that the lever is only up against the tank wall. Find out tomorrow.
