The engine is sputtering, could it be my fuel filter?

Wanting to know that my cobalt is sputtering, and could it be my fuel filter that's clogged. I also smell gas.

It is probably a spark plug or ignition coil issue, but we should run the codes to see what comes up, there is no fuel filter except for the strainer inside the fuel tank.

Spark Plug Type .................... GM P/N 12590701

It could be a stuck fuel injector so take note of the spark plug condition, the one that is different will be the cylinder that is having a problem.
