Front end shaking when driving on the highway at 65 mph to 80 mph

Hi and welcome to 2CarPros. Lets see what we can figure out.

The first thing I would look at is the wheel balance. All shops do a standard wheel balance but some shops can do a high speed wheel balance. This may sound odd but some tires will balance fine and roll fine up to 65 but above that they shake. It is not a common problem and many shops don't do high speed balances because it takes a balancer with that option and it costs more.

You can test this out by putting your spare tire on and driving it to see if it still shakes. Try it on the left and then the right front. Unless the shaking stops when you try the left. If it makes a difference on either side or stops all together then it is a wheel balance issue.

We've already balanced all four tires. we took it to a tire shop when we bought our tires we got the balancing done and got a wheel alignment because our front tire where out worn out. that is why we bought new tires. but no matter what we do we are still having problems on the shaking.

I didn't explain everything. I forgot to write that we already got brand new tires and balanced and aligned so that was my fault I'm just so frustrated. Today I went and bought the sway bar bushings and links for our front end of our car .

I understand you are frustrated, We are here to help. But did you carefully read my post? Please read it again as I explain there are rare cases such as yours and I explain what to do.

My husband is replacing the sway bar linkage or bushing, but after he's done he'll try putting our spare on each side. after will let you know how our car ran .

I have a question. can a CV Joint be put on wrong? Would your car still run at 75 mph?

The reason I'm asking is because were on our way to Albuquerque, NM and it's about a two hour drive and when we were leaving it kinda felt like my car slipped, but it's running okay now.
If I have any other questions i will be writing you again .

I suppose its possible but you would really have to work at doing it wrong. The only thing you could accidentally get wrong is if you dont get it all the way into the transmission till it snaps into the grove. Also if that is the case it could cause a high speed vibration. Some of them you really have to slam into the hole to get them locked in.

But now he replaced the front calipers because it was dragging and it felt like the passenger side but it's still dragging
We don't know what else it could be. We did take it in to a shop before and they charged us way to much and they never got the job done right every time we took it back so he decided to fix it himself and this was about 3 months ago and so that is why he decided to work on our car this time .
So would you know why it's still dragging while we're driving.

If he replaced both calipers they shouldn't be dragging. An easy way to tell if it is a caliper dragging is to drive the car about 10 miles, then get out and feel the center of each rim. If one is hotter than the other then that caliper is dragging. If the rims are the same temp then I would look at the wheel bearing on the side it is pulling to. Though it is rare, a really bad wheel bearing could cause and high speed vibration too.

You can check the wheel bearings by jacking the car up, tires off the ground and grab the tire at the top and bottom and pull with one hand, push with the other, alternating top to bottom IE try to wiggle the tire. If you have any play the bearing is bad.

But like I said before the wheel bearings have been charged also the tie rods and both front CV Joints and the shaking stopped. but now the car felt like it's dragging it feels like the emergency brake is slightly on so he went ahead and changed the front brake calipers, but it still feels like it's dragging. so he's going to drive it for 10 miles like you recommend and hopefully that will tell us something .

Okay, after normal driving the rims should be warm but not so warm you cant keep your hand on them. If they are too hot to keep a hand on then the brakes are dragging.
