Driving car in a straight line and faster you go the louder the humming noise is. I've had problems in the past where it's been a wheel bearing testing it turning left the noise goes away turning right then I was goes away in this case no matter which way you turn the noise is still there? I jack the front end up and spun one wheel at a time and the noise almost sounds like you're driving on rumble strips but not as loud. I jacked up the front end one side of the time and spend the wheel they noise still stayed the same but just sound like it was ratcheting which I get at about 40 to 50 miles an hour. Like I mentioned before I tried to getting off an off-ramp to the right at a 40 mile an hour and getting off the ramp to the left at 40 miles an hour which is it was a wheel bearing the sound would go away or lesson it stays the same? What could this be it only came on. Suddenly in the last two months and it's hard to tell what side it is. New brakes and rotors front and rear. Those were pulled apart just to make sure everything was working smoothly. Arie never sees the guides and all points of contact that move with the caliper I'm stumped on this one. Thank you, Scott

Hi, thanks for visiting 2CarPros.

I would suggest jacking up each side and grabbing the tire at 12 and 6 and trying to move it vertically the grabbing at 9 and 3 and trying to shake it back and forth horizontally to check for bearing play.

If there is none it's very possible it's an output shaft bearing on the trans-axle going bad. With the front end jacked up and transmission in neutral use a stethoscope to listen where the CV shafts go in while spinning the wheels by hand.
