2003 Ford Windstar heater blower

when i put the heater on, i get just slightly warm air, i hear a thumping that stays on sometime.

Sounds like your temperature blend door actuator, this can be scanned to verify this diagnosis. Scan tool must be able to read "B" codes. Ford can do it for you. Or a good repair shop.
