My AC quits blowing cold and blows hot during load. I went up a hill, the RPM's increase and the cold stops. Once I level off, then cold begins again. When I had to increase, while passing, warm began, once I passed and leveled off, cold began again.

This type of a/c cycling is normal to an extent. When the accelerator is depressed far enough, or engine rpm increases in order to provide extra power for passing/climbing, the ecu will cycle the a/c compressor off to free up more power for the extra load on the engine. Once normal driving conditions resume, the ecu will command the compressor to operate normally.

It is possible that a restriction in the a/c system may be present causing abnormal hi/low side pressures when the compressor speed increases with engine speed. Even a low charge of freon may be the culprit.

My suggestion would be to first rule out the most common problem and have the a/c system evacuated and recharged at a reputable shop. Explain your concern and have the technician attempt to re-create the problem before, then again after the charge. If the problem goes away after charged, ask that dye be inserted in the system and a leak check be performed. Have the leaks, if any, fixed to prevent future problems.

Should the recharge not fix the problem, I would suspect a restriction in the system. Good luck, hope this helps!
