Engine problem
2001 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 78k miles

the check engine light came on and it started ridin rough. i took it to the mechanics and they told me that it will cost 500 bucks cause they said the manifold is leakin in air and not coolant but its takin in air and causing it to ride rough. is that true? im an 66 yr old man with grand kids that need me there . is there such a thing or is it head gaskets in which i dont see ant difference in my oil.it doesnt smoke but just stalls once in a while but turns right bk on.what do u think. gran pa 66.

Do you know what the codes were for the check engine light? If the codes were P0171, P0174, then they are lean codes in which you DO have a vaccum leak. Not sure if the repair is an intake or intake gasket, but it's on the right track. Try looking for loose or damaged vaccum hoses. If you have recently had the oil changed, check the hose that comes off the back side of the intake breather tube. Often they come off when the air filter is inspected.Post back if you have any further questions.
