The fuel level is read by a control arm inside the gas tank. It sends out a particular voltage to the anti-slosh module (near the instrument panel - - may be incorporated within the instr. panel) based on the fuel level in the tank. This voltage signal is then processed by the anti-slosh module, and the fuel level is displayed by the dashboard needle.
