Hello

Sorry to hear you are having car problems. I will need a little more information though to understand better.

Since your Check Engine Light is on, please go to Auto Zone or O'Reilly's and for free they can pull the codes to the car. Most important. Once they check your codes, if they find something and you don't get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that. While there for free also they can bring their tester out and check your battery, alternator and starter.

Next you said you had the intake manifold gasket replaced... Why... What was the reason for this?

You also replaced the PVC hose......... If so why

Please do the above and answer the above and get back with us with that information and if you haven't figured it out we can take it from there.

The intake manifold was replaced EARLIER, then the PVC hose was repaired a bit later. Now I'm told the codes are P0 171 and P0174. That is P (ZERO) 171 and P(zero)174.
A local shop, not the Ford dealer has not been able to correct the problem. It seems that this is a code for "lean"? They went all over the engine with some type of spray to detect leaks. No luck. The local shop has been very competent in the past. They are assuming that the onboard computer MAY? Need a software upgrade at a Ford dealership. This has not been a good auto. The front LH axle bearing went out under warranty, then the Auto trans was reworked because of a damaged torque converter. Now at 49.000 miles the ck engine light problem. HELP

Hello

I am attaching the information I have on Codes P0171 and P0174. As you see it covers many different areas that can be checked for proper operation.

My suggestion is you have this chart now. I would go to Auto Zone or O'Reilly's and have them clear the codes then drive it and see if they come back. If so, then verify it is the same ones. If so then use this chart to start troubleshooting the different items.
For instance: Fuel systems is broad. Let that sit for now. Excessive fuel pressure - a fuel pressure test can be ran. Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors. Run a fuel injector cleaner through and look over injectors really good for leaks. Etc When you look at the induction system - one of them is Improperly seated engine oil dipstick. . .check it. Basic Engine there is one for oil being overfilled. Check the oil. Hopefully this gives you a starting point.
The first column is the DTC code, the second is the description of the code, the third is the possible cause and the last is the diagnostic aids.

Hope this helps - let us know if you need more info or guidance.

Hello
When you select the attachment, save it to your computer. Then open it in your picture area. It may be Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. When you double click on it to open it, there are selection symbols with a plus + or minus - on them. Select the plus and you can make it as big as you would like.
