we hae a sharp knocking noise just under the plastic cover on top of the engine. it sounds like it is right under the cover you can here it when the engine is idling but when you accelerate it goes away, then returns when you let off on the gas. it is in the exact center of the engine both ways. actually it sounds more like a clatter than a knock. thanks ron

Ron:
Does the sound speed up with engine RPM's? If so, it sounds like lifter noise or if it's coming from the front of the engine check the belts, tensionier, accessories.

Let me know what you find.
