2000 Ford Windstar Overdrive

16,000 MILES • 6 CYL • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

The van works fine and shifts fine on the highway for the first 20 miles, then it does not want to shift into overdrive, and RPM gauge goes to over 3000, (normally 2000) It goes into the Ford Dealer tomorrow, but they haven't figured out whats wrong yet. Any suggestions?

Hi
Maybe several things most likely shift solenoid or a speed sensor. Pressure tests and diagnostic scanning will tell.
