It is the seal, but the repair cost is questionable. It is difficult for someone to do without the use of a lift to put the car on. The seal will need to be replaced, but quite often, the torque converter is also a problem. If I were to guess, I would say the trans fluid hasn't been changed in a while and therefor the trans has gotten hotter than normal. When this happens, the torque converter has a tendancy to swell up in the snout. When this happens it causes a leak at the seal. I have done several repairs with just a seal and they always come back. The big question, though, is if it got hot, did it damage anything else in the trans?
