when my van is cold starting out its takes a while for her to go into gears. And it is fine after it warms up no problems.

Have you had the trans serviced reciently? It could be a combination of heavy (cold) ATF and a partially plugged filter. Also, O-rings in the trans get hard and can do the same. I recommend having it serviced with a good additive.
