1999 Ford Windstar Faulty shifting

The transmission shifts abruptly when accelerating, and sometime when stopped and taking off it takes a few seconds to kick in gear. Once in gear it runs OK. Could it be the transmission control solenoid that nedds replacement?

This could be somekind of a control module prob or computer. i would have it scanned and that will give you a general idea of what is going on
