1999 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

after changing the alternater and charging the battery the battery light on the dash stays on. The system is checked with a multi meter. The altenater and battery both check ok after 24 hrs. Why is battery light on dash still on?

Check fuses D and T in the engine compartment fuse box and also fuse no.14 in I/P fuse panel if all okay test the wiring and also for loose connections
