1998 Ford Windstar Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN SHE NOTICED IT BUCKING, AND A LIGHT CAME ON, A CIRCLE WITH A "D" IN IT WITH A LINE THOUGH IT. THE MANUAL SAYS TO CONTACT A DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WHAT COULD THIS MEAN?

tranny maybe slipping and or solenoid issues /sensor
you need to have it scanned for codes
