I shall be very grateful if you could help me in this regard. My friend bought this Ford Windstar 1998 just recently.

Upon cleaning the air filter he found that an engine oil deposits stocks on the flexible rubber that connects the air filter to the throttle, seems that around 1 glass of water, if measures. He cleans removed the oil deposits, unfortunately, after 2 weeks of using the car, again oil deposits is there again. So, myself has been wondering if he has a problem on piston or piston ring. Furthermore, he adds oil around 1/2 liter after running the car of 1500 kilometer.

Does the engine has a piston problem that cause of adding oil occassionally. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks and regards.

It very well may have blow-by. Check the PCV system and make sure it isn't plugged.

The kicker on this particular year windstar is the engines are a time-bomb. The motor is not interchangable with other years. We had one a few months back and really had a hard time locating a used engine. The junkyards didn't want to sell one because of the high failure rate.
