I have a 1996 Ford Tunderbird and I am pulling my hair out on this car lately. I had the transmission replaced in July of 2006 and the car was runnig beautiful. Then in September it started acting up again. I was on my way to work and as I came to a stop light it just died. So I restarted it and the only way I could keep it running was to keep one foot on the break and one foot on the gas. I gimpped it in to the parking lot at work and called my husband. On my coffee break I thought I might go out and start it to see if it was still having the problem. I was not, but I heard grinding noised coming from the fuel tank. I had a feeling the fuel pump was going bad so I had the fuel pump replaced and also the filter. After the new parts were replace the car drove beautiful till lastnight with out any trouble. While driving home from work it started acting up again. I start my car this morning and let it warm up for about 15 min, it died. I did not think anything of it so I started it up again and drove my son to daycare with no problems and let the car stay idling while I went inside to sign him in, came back out and my car had died again. I restarted it and as soon as I stuck it in gear it died again. I let the engine cool off and went out to start it agian and it started right up and went into gear with out dying. I let it warm up again and in order for me to drive it I had to have one foot on the break and one of the gas. Not sure what could be causing this, the check engine light has not come on either and the gauges are reading normal on everything. I am so frustraded I could send this car off a cliff. I have been to many machanic's in town and none of them seem to have an answer, or the car performs fine for them. PLEASE HELP ME!
