After warming up when you come to a stop the RPM's drop very low and it sounds like a rod is going to come out then I press on the gas to raise the RPM's and it smooths out again. It does not do this all the time. Any suggestions?

Clean out the idle air contdrol valve and EGR valve and test the throttle position and mass airflow sensors.
