what are the symptoms of a bad speed sensor on the E4OD transmission. I am having shifting problems and speddometer does not work?

You have asked and answered your own question, those are the symptoms of a bad speedo sensor, the transmission starts to malfunction due to the fact that the computer does not know how fast you're going and therefore is lost in outer space. Replace the speedo sensor, and reset the parameters of the transmission with a scanner, that should do it.
