Transmission problem
1989 Ford Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic ? miles

I recently purchased a 89 F-150, 5.0, 4x4. It had a major transmission fluid leak from the pan. I had someone replace the gasket for me. It stopped the leak but the transmission is very slow to go into drive. When it does go into drive it will not shift at all. Is there something electronic to check or do I need to rebuild the tranny or replace???

If the transmission had leaked for some time I would check to see what the smell on the dipstick is like if it smells burnt thenI woual have it checked. you can try having it flushed in case anything has clogged the filter. Usually a place that does oil changes also do transmission flushing.
