1972 Ford Torino backfires and loss of power

i was drive normally at 50 then when i got to 55 it backfired twice then lossed all power then the power decreased til eventually it would only idle and died every time i hit the gas please help

single point fuel pump on the side of the engine

Check the fuel pump's pressure and vacuum, also the carb's accelerator pump,main metering and power valve circuits.
