will start but not shut off

i have a 95 thunderbird. starts, but will NOT shut off. the key/lock feels very free/loose when turning to the off postion.....i replaced the ignition lock cylinder and it still does not shut off.. something broke in the steering column? do i have to remove steering wheel? can i rig up a wire/toggle to shut car off? please help this broke iowa guy...THANKS SO MUCH

What you need to check is the ignition switch, not the tumbler...it's a plastic part on the other side of the lock, not real expensive!
