I have a 1994 T-Bird 4.6 L RWD 114000 miles.
The trans is slipping in OD. The OD light does not come on. No DTC's present. Fluid is clean. This is a 4R70W trans. I beleive the OD band is going bad and I Know it will need to be rebuilt, but I would like to know if a trans from a 1986 T-bird with the same engine would work in this car.

Well first off you have two different harnesses and they aren't compatible.

The 94 model is more complex then all the models before it. The second thing would be if you managed to get the trans to fit and configure the harnesses which you could do, you may more then likely run into problems with the Engine Control computer. And third my friend the throttle cables are noncompatible as well.

I hope this answered your question.
