400,000 miles? Original engine?
Sounds like the fuel shut off switch needs replaced.
The fuel pump's electric motor also sounds if it is dying.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Suggested Repair

Replace the trunk fuel shutoff switch. Also check the fuel pump electric motor, which may be failing given the high mileage and heat-related stalling.

Conversation Summary

A 1995 Ford Thunderbird with about 400,000 miles starts but will not stay running and feels like it is not getting fuel. Unplugging the trunk fuel shutoff switch lets it run, while plugging it back in shuts the engine off. The fuel filter was already replaced, and after sitting overnight it may run until it gets hot, as if it is sucking air. An expert recommended replacing the fuel shutoff switch and noted the fuel pump motor may also be dying.
