Transmission problem
2003 Ford Taurus Automatic 85000 miles

I HAD MY SON'S TRANMISSION REPLACED BY A NATIONAL TRANSMISSION COMPANY. WHEN WE DROVE IT HOME THERE WAS A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN WE WENT OVER BUMPS AND POTHOLES. THE COMPANY SAID THAT WAS THE STRUTS. THEY EXPLAINED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION IS PULLED IT PUTS STRESS ON THE STRUTS.
HE SAID THEY GREASE THE STRUTS AND THE SOUND SHOULD GO AWAY WITHIN A WEEK. DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT?

No. What happened is the front sway bar end links are no good and need to be replaced. They had to undo them in order to get the transmission out and when they did the links were damaged. **They did not cause the damage but you hear the noise now because they were taken apart and disturbed, unfortunately this always happens. Hope this helps. **When im working on that part of the suspension I always advise customer that these could be damaged when taking it apart.
