My manual recommends 91 octane gas. We have been putting regular since the gas prices have risen so high. It knocks which I expect but would it harm the engine by using regular?

May affect performance, it's tuned for that octane, My Town car calls for premium, but alas it too must survive on regular! Will it hurt? May run a bit dirtier...
