We replaced the battery in our 1997 Ford Thuderbird. Now the enging idles at 1500 rpm in the park position. I have read about the re-learn process for the idle, but do not understand. We have driven the car for at least 30 minutes and the engine idle does not change to a regular idle. Is something else wrong? We are afraid of the effect on the transmission.

We disconnected the battery cables and re-connected them and that solved the problem.
Thanks
