1997 Ford Thunderbird car wont go into gear

the floor shifter will move back and forth but it wont go into gear to drive , park or nutural, it feels like the linkage could be broken I had to tow it home...

If the trans won't go into park, it does sound like tjhe trams linkage is disconnected or loose. check that and let me know what you find.
