Use a voltage tester at the lamp assembly, wiring harness. The brown wire is voltage for the tail lamps, when you turn on the headlamp switch, is that wire hot? Black wire is ground. The other color wire is stop/turn, they use the same bulb filament, not at the same time. Does the highmount brake lite work?
