How do you install an ammeter on a Ford. On older Fords you took off all the wires on one side of the starter relay and connected the ammeter in line; now there is no separate relay.

On the modular engines (4.6, 5.4, v-10) the relay (solonoid) is back on the starter. If you look on E-Bay you can find 12volt ammeters that have remote sensors, That would be easyier then running heavy wires into then back out of the passenger compartment.
