I have a 95 ford t-bird 4.6 liter v-8, automatic trans. I also have a 94 t-bird of same configuration. (It has been hit and is now a parts car). Are the ecm's interchangeable? The 95 is not as zippy as the 94 and the trans shifts kinda lame. Also when getting on it the 95 cuts out at about 5,000 rpm as if it has a rev limiter, the 94 didnt do that. Also would a ecm out of a crown victoria police interceptor of any particular year work in my t-bird? I have heard of this being done in earlier mustangs?

Depends on if the 95 has OBD I Or OBD II connector. OBD I covers 92-94 and some 95 OBD II 95-96 and up. If both have the connector under the hood that looks like this on drivers inner fender.

Then probably yes! if the 95 has a connector inside the car under the dash that looks like this, then no.

If the connectors are the same should not be a problem to swap them.

On my 95 t-bird, the trans stick says to use mercon/dexron, but parts shops and dealer said to use mercon 5. Im up in the air because I dont want to use the wrong fluid and mess up the trans, can you shed some light? Thanks.

It's OK to use the Mercon V it is a newer formulation, and recommended by Ford for thier cars and light trucks. Her's the Tech Bulliten on it:

ACTION Beginning immediately all automatic transmission / transaxle applications requiring MERCON(R) can now be serviced using MERCON(R) V or MERCON(R) Automatic Transmission Fluid or dual usage fluids labeled MERCON(R) / MERCON(R) V. After July 1, 2007, MERCON(R) Automatic Transmission Fluid will no longer be manufactured, therefore, availability of this fluid will only continue for however long it takes to deplete what remains in inventory. SERVICE PROCEDURE Service automatic transmissions requiring MERCON(R) with MERCON(R) V or MERCON(R) Automatic Transmission Fluid or dual usage fluids labeled MERCON(R) / MERCON(R) V For proper fluid application on current and past model vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions / transaxles refer to the fluid usage chart.
