Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Ford Thunderbird V8 Two Wheel Drive

I have purchased this car for a little of nothing and it has a loud knocking and I need to know if there is a way to check the main bearings without taking the engine completly out of the car my dad does not think it is the mains and I have not been able to pinpoint the locations of the problems is there a good way to do this also

I dont think its the mains either, can you describe when the knocking starts?

Engine temp?

First start of the day, later start?

Certain miles? Any abnormal engine performance when problem starts
