My 94 T-Bird (orignial owner) has had chronic transmission problems off and on for about 8 years now. It used to slip mildly in and out of gear usually during long runs in hot weather. Then the problem would disappear sometimes for as long as a year. Mechanics would always tell me they couldn't find anything or they'd seem to know about T-Bird tranny problems and would just say "it's chronic"
Lately, the tranny slips out and back in constantly and with great force...sometimes jerking the car forward. The RPMS will climb up to 50000 before getting back into gear. It's driveable if you baby it just right but it seems like the end is near.
Is there anything to be done ? This is a great car and I'd love to keep it but don't see pouring tons of money into someting with almost no resale value.
I have little mechanical skill or knowledge and appreciate any input.
Much Thanks
