Noises problem
1989 Ford Thunderbird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 221000 kilometers

My 1989 Thunderbird has a horrible crunching sound when it turns. It used to be when just cranking the wheel, now it is at every street. I fear the car unsafe, and no mechanic can figure out the problem because the car has to be moving to make the sound. Any suggestions on what it could be?

sounds like the steering rack is geting worn .. ask your mechanic to test drive the vehicle to hear the sound .. could be a driveshaft also .. or a wheel bearing ..
