1994 Ford Tempo wont shift

Transmission problem
1994 Ford Tempo 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

drove the car to work then home went to store and that was it hasnt moved since linkage seems to be ok the shift lever is working could you tell me another cause for this problem thank you

have to ask. you didn't mention checking fluid level with motor running parked on level ground. thanks
