My car has been driving fine, transmission wise, for some time. I pulled into a driveway to do work on a/c (freon). After, I reversed out of driveway, reverse gear ok then, and proceeded like always and shifted to drive. No movement in drive, only engine reved as if still in park / neutral. Then attempted reverse and no movement, only reving. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

If fluid level is ok then check shft linkage. The shifting arm is on side of trans below throttle body. The downshift linkage is also in the same area. The shifting arm has the neutral safety switch on it with associated wiring/plug. Make sure that is moving when someone operates shifter inside car. You can also check by putting it in drive when car is off and trying to start it. If it wont start then linkage is likely working. Other than that a broken axle or internal trans problem is all I can think of.
