my sons car will start and engine will run but it will not turn the serpentine belt. when i shut it off i can turn it or spin the belt very easy. whats broken and how much will it cost.

i'd say your serpentine idler/tension pulley assembly has failed. shouldn't be more than 100 to have a shop do it? but who knows these days?
