The car temperature rises all the way to the red and the heater is blowing cold air, then all of a sudden the heater will start blowing hot air and the temperature will drop to normal. I've changed the radiator, thermostat, temperature switch, temperature sensor... What could it be?

is the water pump belt in good shape and tensioned properly? since it's hard to get at it usually gets forgotten. the idler for that belt also goes bad. it's down under water pump get to it from under front left of car.
