I have a 1992 Ford Tempo, auto, 2.3 L 3 speed, 200, 000 kms. I don't know if this problem is common or not....about a month ago, the panel/vent switch doesn't switch. The fan does work on defrost and floor.....heater's fine....but as soon as I hit the panel/vent button, it's as if it's on defrost (coming out at the windshield vents instead) Is it difficult to take off a dashboard and poke around? In case you haven't guessed, I know almost nothing about cars lol Thanks for your time. :?

You have a problem with vaccuum. Panel/vent switch is ok. Under the hood there is a vacuum line going to the switch. Check if the line is cracked or broken. Also another problem is the blend door. If you hit the panel button the blend door should move to the position you choose from the panel.
