1992 Ford Tempo 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive

my tempo gose in drive then first gear but will not shift out of first it reves up very high but gose in reverse? Help

Make sure fluid level is right. Check in park while engine is running. Also check that downshift control arm is connected. It goes from throttle assembly to trans and they sometimes fall off on 1 end due to plastic bushing failure. Did you try manual shift starting in 1rst and then moving to second to see if it will shift?
