1992 Ford Tempo throttle valve sticking

hi I have a tempo and sometimes the gas pedal is very hard to press and shifting becomes erratic no kickdown have been told it is the throttle valve and needs replacing I have searched the internet and have been unable to find one do you have any sources on that

Not likely it's the throttle valve. You would have to buy that from the junkyard. What it could be is the kickdown arm, the gas pedal cable, or 1 of the other cables that moves with the gas pedal being pushed which are also connected to the throttle arm. Like the cruise control cable. Remove the plastic cover from the throttle area and inspect and lubricate. Also make sure the butterfly is not sticking shut. There is a small screw to adjust this so it closes completely yet does not stick shut. If you can open it by hand operation of throttle arm without a catch then it's fine. The kickdown arm is attached to the throttle arm on windshield side and goes strate down to the trans arm that controls the shifting. This would be the first thing to check since it uses plastic bushings and they break and the arm can come off and jam! Hope this helps
