1992 Ford Tempo Hesitation and sputtering

I was reading your tempo forum and came across the following question that had already been asked,

"1994 Ford Tempo mileage: 68,000. When you apply pressure to the accelerator there is a hesitation, then jerks and then accelerates. I have replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button and fuel filter. Any ideas?

Answer: If the oxygen sensor has not been recently replaced, a new one should be installed. Also, perform a fuel pump pressure test. Clean fuel injection system including throttle bore, idle speed control motor and passages. If the problem still exists, scan the computer for trouble codes."

My tempo has the same problem except it is starting to sputter around 35 mph and is burning up plugs and the distributer cap and rotor. I have replaced them twice (including the spark plug wires) and it worked for a year and now I'm back in the same boat.

Have you tried an o2 sensor? Fuel pressure test? What brand parts are you using? Cheap parts are exactly that. Cheap.

I bought the lifetime warrenty distributer cap and rotor from O'Reily Auto Parts and the spark plugs are Autolite. My next investment is going to be the O2 sensor but I didn't think that would be burning the electrical components out.

Try a tune up with Motorcraft parts. The o2 controls mixture which raises and lowers resistance in the ignition system by how hard the mixture is to burn

I put a new BOSCH premium o2 sensor on and the chugging has been reduced but still occurs and the fuel pressure is strong
