My car runs hot while in park, it runs in the middle while I'm driving, but I added antifreeze and it's still doing it. I did not see any leaks coming from the radiator and the fan is running, but when it's in park for more than 5 minutes it will almost overheat. I just recently had a harmonic balancer put in and a brand new radiator and hoses as well. How do you test the water pump or thermostat?

to test a water pump the best way is to hold down the upper hose then release you should feel pressure build and surge past your hand.

just replace the thermostat as it is 3 dollars at the most.

what i think is wrong is its time for a radiator flush and engine flush.

also scrape some of the oil off of the engine.
