Transmission problem
1991 Ford Tempo 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 200k miles

Once every 6 to 9 months my Temp wil suddenly have troubles shifting into or holding gear around 30 MPH shifting down with a lurch and ignoring the acceleration the engine should be providing as the RPM sounds like it climbs well past the shift point. The problem generaly fades out after a few days to a week so I can't imagine it is a low fluid issue. I try to get a transmission flush during these spells hoping its debris floating about but so far I still "enjoy" a transmission with character. I can generally coax it into gear within a few tries of pulling over and parking for a few moments and re-accelerating. What other problem does this sound like?

You did get a transmission flush? You do know how to check the fluid level? You did get a filter change? Any particular climate/other conditions that might contribute to the timing of this problem? Does it manually shift gears during the problem? 1-2-3? You could consider parting with car while it is shifting correctly? You could also consider buying major repair insurance prior to expected trouble period?
